Why We Sell To Indoor Only Homes
Almost every breeder you will talk to started with the same upbringing as
you. Cats were kept free to roam indoors and out. But we all have come to
the same conclusion. And that is that the great outdoors isn't safe. Times
have changed from the "Leave it to Beaver" golden days. And even back then
think of the neighborhood cats and how they disappeared or were replaced
every so often. Cats lifespans should be at least in the teens. Loose cats
usually die much sooner.
And now times & people have changed. Folks are less agreeable of your cat
digging up their garden to leave a little fertilizer. Leash laws are for
cats too you know.
There are dangers from cars, poisons, people, dogs, other animals such as
raccoons & possums, cats, eagles, hawks, owl's, & kids can really be cruel too.
Vaccinations for Feline Leukemia and rabies have proven to cause cancer in
the site of the inoculation so by keeping the cat indoors you don't have to inoculate
for it. Feluk is virtually gone from the breeders population of cats and can
only be found in loose cats. By law in most states you will have to have Rabies.
Its a harsh vaccine vaccine for the cats. Discuss the cancer aspect with your vet.
Also that you shouldn't give the rabies shot with any other shots or surgeries.
There are less vet bills with the cat indoors only. No abscess from animal
fights, injuries from whatever, less illness.
Never left out in a storm to get scared, wet, and cold.
We feel that in the best interest of the cat to have it live its life in the
safety and security of its own home. You will always know where it is. It
will be safe, clean, warm, and fed. And I can sleep at night knowing that
the cat is loved and considered a precious family member.
If they never go out they don't know what they are missing and they are
content with their house as their territory. They look out windows like we
watch TV. This is totally true. You don't have to feel bad about denying them
hunting in the outdoors.
And if you do a few different things you can safely take your cat outdoors and
on car trips. Use a carrier every time you take the cat through the door. So it
doesn't get the idea of what is on the other side of the door and try to
bolt at a later time, and train it to a halter and leash. (fairly easy with kittens)
You just have to change your way of thinking about the cat. Its in their
best interest.
Remember, If you have never had a taste of chocolate you don't miss it.
